The Government Inspector: ELT House Classic Readers edition

The Government Inspector is a satire by the Russian writer Nikolai Gogol. The corrupt officials of a small Russian town receive a letter informing them that a government inspector will soon be arriving to investigate them. The town officials try to cover up their misdeeds, leading to comic misunderstandings and social critique.
