At Book Treasures, we are dedicated to sharing the joy of reading by offering carefully selected pre-loved books. We understand that purchasing used books online comes with unique expectations, and we strive for complete transparency and your satisfaction. This policy outlines your rights and our procedures for returns and refunds, in compliance with Egyptian Consumer Protection Law No. 181 of 2018.

1. General Return Conditions

  • Eligibility Window: You have 14 days from the date you receive your order to initiate a return for any reason, provided the book is in its original condition. For books deemed defective or not conforming to the description, this period extends to 30 days from receipt.
  • Item Condition: Books must be returned in the same condition they were in when you received them. This means no additional damage, writing, highlighting, tears, or missing pages beyond what was clearly described and depicted on the product page.
  • Proof of Purchase: A copy of your order confirmation or receipt from https://book-treasures.com/ is required for all returns.
  • Original Packaging: While not always mandatory for used books, we appreciate if you can return items in their original packaging to prevent further damage during transit.

2. Reasons for Return & Refund Eligibility

We offer returns and refunds under the following circumstances:

  • Item Not as Described: If the book you receive significantly differs from its description and the provided photos on our website (e.g., major unmentioned damage, missing pages, incorrect edition, or if it's an entirely different book than ordered).
  • Incorrect Item Received: If you received a book that is not the one you ordered.
  • Damaged in Transit: If your book arrives damaged due to shipping. You must provide clear photos of the damaged packaging and the book itself when you contact us. This helps us address issues with our shipping partners.

We do not offer returns or refunds for:

  • Change of Mind: While Egyptian law allows for a 14-day "no reason" return for new goods, for used books where conditions are specifically described, we encourage careful consideration before purchase. Returns for a simple change of mind will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and may be subject to return shipping costs borne by the customer.
  • Minor Wear & Tear: As all our books are used, minor wear and tear (e.g., slight creases on covers, faded spines, minor underlining or highlighting if noted in the description, or slight shelf wear) that are typical for used books and consistent with the product description are not considered grounds for a return. We strive to provide accurate condition details for each book.
  • Books Damaged After Delivery: Books that are damaged after they have been successfully delivered to your specified address.

3. How to Initiate a Return

    • Attach photos if applicable, especially for damaged or "not as described" items.
  3. Return Authorization (RA) Number: Our team will review your request. If your return is approved, we will provide you with a unique Return Authorization (RA) number and detailed instructions on how to send your book(s) back. It is crucial that you do not send any books back without a valid RA number, as unauthorized returns may not be accepted or processed.

4. Shipping Returned Items

  • Who Bears Shipping Costs:
    • If the return is due to an error on our part (e.g., incorrect item sent, item significantly not as described, or damaged in transit), Book Treasures will cover the return shipping costs. We will provide you with instructions or a prepaid shipping label.
    • For all other approved returns (e.g., specific cases of change of mind where accepted), the customer is responsible for the return shipping costs.
  • Packaging: Please package the book(s) securely to prevent any further damage during transit. We highly recommend using a trackable shipping service and/or purchasing shipping insurance, especially for more valuable items, as we cannot guarantee receipt of returned items.

5. Refunds

  • Processing & Inspection: Once we receive your returned item, it will undergo a thorough inspection to ensure it meets our return conditions. We will then notify you via email of the approval or rejection of your refund.
  • Refund Method: If your refund is approved, it will be processed to your original method of payment within 7-14 business days. Please be aware that the time it takes for the refund to reflect in your bank or credit card statement may vary depending on your bank's policies.
  • Partial Refunds: In specific situations, a partial refund may be granted. This could occur if the returned item is not in its original condition, is damaged due to reasons not attributable to our error, or has missing parts. Any such decision will be communicated clearly.
