Longman Junior English Dictionary: AW Frisby By A. W. Frisby

This dictionary is intended for elementary or post-elementary students, for example those who have learned English for 4 years as part of a general school curriculum. It gives the meaning of approximately 5,500 of the most common and useful words in the language, defined within a vocabulary of 1,500 words. This is primarily a learning dictionary and emphasis is placed on demonstrating the use of derivatives or verb forms in illustrative sentences. There are 800 illustrations to reinforce understanding, and appendices give the defining vocabulary, the principal parts of verbs, and plurals of nouns.
