Burakumin: A Japanese Minority and Education (1971) By Nobuo Shimahara

Study based primarily on the author’s field work in Japan examining the culture of the Burakumin and responses of Japanese formal education to their minority problems. Presents the Burakumin as an "invisible" Japanese minority that has suffered long-standing discrimination and argues that discrimination and prejudice can be colour-blind and free from physical stigma.
